In a bid to win back viewer loyalty and increase interactivity, visitors to the GMTV website can access a range of coupons and vouchers for in-store redemption. All users have to do is print them off.
The new initiative has been made possible on the back of a deal with Couponstar’s CouponNET network, a “white label” platform for distributing coupons and vouchers via the Internet.
Every week GMTV reaches 13 million people in its 6am to 9.25am slot but has been keen to develop its web activities to maximise its partnerships with affiliate organisations.
Research showed 75 per cent of GMTV’s users are females over 25 and 70 per cent of these had at least two children. Tips on how to run the household more efficiently and save money on the weekly shopping bill were identified as key areas of interest to GMTV’s web visitors.
Grocery, pharmaceutical and retail brands which viewers can save on under the new scheme include Ocean Spray, Emmi, Pedigree, and Colgate.
New Media Editor, GMTV, Gareth Herincx, said, “At GMTV we pride ourselves on having some of the best online money-saving advice and tools in the business, and through CouponNET we are able to expand on the promotional offers we can make available to our viewers.
“The fact that the coupons are for everyday products and are redeemable at all major supermarkets means we can provide relevant offers to everyone that fits into the viewers’ lifestyle easily and effectively.”
Herincx added, “Early feedback indicates that the appetite for consumer-printed coupons will continue to grow with consumer confidence. At GMTV we expect that increasing amounts of manufacturers and shoppers will see the benefits of consumer-printable coupons.”
