GMTV launches online coupon programme to Increase viewer interactivity and loyalty!

25 April 2007
GMTV expands its online presence (www.gm.tv) using Couponstar to distribute consumer-printed coupons and vouchers to customers.

Europe’s leading breakfast show, GMTV, has partnered with digital marketing services provider, Couponstar, to provide visitors to the GMTV website with a range of consumer-printed coupons and vouchers for in-store redemption. Using Couponstar’s CouponNET™ network, a “white label” platform for distributing coupons and vouchers via the Internet, GMTV is able to expand its brand beyond 9.25am to match the 24/7 lifestyle it promotes.

Every week GMTV reaches 13 million people in its 6am to 9.25am slot, interspersing news and current affairs with celebrity interviews and special features, all of which are backed up on the website by a lively mix of advice, video clips, competitions, and user generated content.

Despite its strong presence online, GMTV was keen to develop its web activities to maximise its partnerships with affiliate organisations and encourage higher interactivity with its viewers. With 75% of GMTV’s users being females over 25 and 70% of these having at least two children, tips on how to run the household more efficiently and save money on the weekly shopping bill are key areas of interest to GMTV’s web visitors. And it was these areas that GMTV identified as key strengths of Couponstar’s CouponNET™ offering. CouponNET™ allows GMTV’s viewers to save money on a range of grocery, pharmaceutical and retail brands including Ocean Spray, Emmi, Pedigree, and Colgate.

Commenting on the CouponNET™ network, Gareth Herincx, GMTV explains, “At GMTV we pride ourselves on having some of the best online money-saving advice and tools in the business, and through CouponNET™ we are able to expand on the promotional offers we can make available to our viewers. The fact that the coupons are for everyday products and are redeemable at all major supermarkets means we can provide relevant offers to everyone that fits into the viewers’ lifestyle easily and effectively.”

As market leaders in the consumer-printable coupon industry, Couponstar’s technology is unique in providing organisations with a proven solution to securely and efficiently issue personalised and trackable coupons via the internet, critically bridging the gap between online marketing and consumers’ offline purchasing behaviour. And, with typical redemption rates of 20% plus - significantly higher than industry averages – Couponstar’s CouponNET™ network can help brands cost effectively acquire new customers and drive in-store sales.

Herincx concludes, “We have a good relationship with Couponstar and feel that their ability to tailor their expertise to our specific needs is key to us continuing to develop and evolve at a time when consumer interaction is increasingly crucial to our business. Consumers increasingly expect to find offers where they shop – online - and for these offers to fit into their shopping experience with the least amount of disruption or confusion. CouponNET™ does just this, and early feedback indicates that the appetite for consumer-printed coupons will continue to grow with consumer confidence. At GMTV we expect that increasing amounts of manufacturers and shoppers will see the benefits of consumer-printable coupons.”
